When Pinarello first introduced the Pinarello Paris it was hard to see how they could improve on Paris Carbon, with its perfect combination of stiffness in all the right areas of the frame and comfort produced by the excellent Pinarello ONDA forks and ONDA Seat Stays. The Paris also has assured handling a must for a top end road bike but with three years of research and development the latest incarnation of the Pinarello Prince has more curves than any other Pinarello models. As always The Prince is instantly recognizable as distinct and different from any of its contemporary’s. The fork used on the Pinarello Prince Carbon is the same as that on Pinarello’s top of the range Dogma FPX. The ONDA FPX has an extra curve to add comfort along with its exceptional stiffness it also has larger head tube area, which utilizes an increased diameter 1 ¼” lower bearing. The increased head tube gives the Prince exceptional handling with steering being positive and reactive. This makes the Prince front end very stiff but the ONDA FPX curves still allow for a very comfortable ride.With a flowing Top tube that curves to the back of the bike and internal cabling system for increased aerodynamics. The Prince Seat Tube has a simple profile, taking a 34.9mm front mech clamp and ending in a strongly reinforced bottom bracket. Giving the Prince great stiffness and resistance to flex where it needs it most. A lot of thought has gone into the Pinarello Prince Carbon  the bottom bracket area is incredibly stiff and is perfectly complimented by the cleverly designed chain stays.The Prince Frame is of Monocoque construction using high modulus 50 Carbon with a 1k weave. 

PINARELLO PRINCE SL (2nd GENERATION)

 

The Pinarello Prince SL was released in 2003 with big improvements over the first generation of the Prince. The Prince Frameset was still of Aluminum and carbon construction but Pinarello were able to save considerable weight by using a new Dedacciai SLXIX main frame at almost half a pound lighter than the mark one Prince main frame and made from a very strong and stiff for of aluminum alloy. To Pinarello added new ONDA Carbon Seat Stays and carbon chain stays and finished the frame with a ONDA Carbon fork. The Pinarello Prince was an overnight success on its release with a number of high level and prestigious results in the pro cycle calendar of 2003. notably a win for Team Telekon in the Ghent-Welegam.

 

PINARELLO PRINCE CARBON (3rd GENERATION)

 

At the start of the Pro Cycle 2005 season it had become apparent to all the major road cycle makers that a shift towards Carbon Frames was now becoming prevalent amongst Pro Cycle Teams. Pinarello were quick to embrace new materials with the introduction of the Pinarello F4:13, a full Carbon Framed Road Bike and followed up with the highly rated Pinarello Paris Carbon Frame. finally arriving at the all new Third Generation of the Prince. The Pinarello Prince Carbon is constructed using Japanese Carbon from Japanese Textile Giant Toray the Carbon system being know as Torayca® carbon 50HM1K. Torayca is a HM (High Modulus Carbon 50) with a 1K weave producing a very strong, stiff and ultra light frameset. The same Torayca® carbon 50HM1K is used in production Of the Pinarello Prince ONDA Forks and ONDA Seat Stays. Torayca® carbon is manufactured with the highest possible quality control and thoroughly tested for structural integrity.

 

The Pinarello Prince Carbon is a full Monocoque construction meaning it is molded in one piece with no lugs and thus eliminating any potential weakness that might be inherent in a carbon frame made from the more traditional Lugs method, with carbon sections glued together. The Pinarello Prince Frame has been designed for racing offering both exceptional stiffness for maximum power transfer and great handling but also an ultra lightweight construction.
