PINARELLO PRINCE

PINARELLO PRINCE

The Pinarello Prince has been one of the most sort after and highly rated road bikes since 1997 when the first generation Pinarello Prince was put into full production just After German Cyclist Jan Ulrich won the Tour De France 1997 on a Pinarello Cycle. The First Incarnation of the Pinarello Prince was built with a Dedacciai SC61.10a Aluminum Main Frame with carbon carbon-seat stays, a revelation when introduced and an iconic design from the excellent Pinarello Bicycle Company. The carbon seat stays offering more road shock absorbency and a more comfortable ride for long road races plus savings in overall weight.

The Pinarello Prince was a big seller amongst top end road bicycles throughout the 1990s, sales being helped by German Rider Eric Zabel's four consecutive Tour De France Green Jersey wins during that period. Pinarello Bikes were so sort after that at one time Pinarello were in sponsorship with three of the Worlds Top Pro Cycle Teams:  The Spanish Team Banesto, German Team Telekom (Now T-Mobile) and Fassa Bortolo. Banesto is now Caisse d’Epargne who ride the latest incarnation of the Pinarello Prince.

PINARELLO PRINCE SL (2nd GENERATION)

Pinarello Introduced the Second Generation of Pinarello prince in 2003 with the Pinarello Prince SL, still of alu/carbon design but the mainframe having been changed from the Dedacciai SC61.10A to the Dedacciai SLXIX a very strong, light and stiff Aluminum Alloy. To This Pinarello added the now famous ONDA Carbon Fork (distinct with its wavy form, designed and tested for greater comfort) and Completed with Pinarello’s ONDA Seat Stays System. The Pinarello SL was a leap forward from the first Prince generation with a ½ lb being saved just from the use of the Dedacciai SLXIX Aluminum main frame.

The Pinarello Prince SL was confirmed a winner when victory came in the UCI 1 class victory with Kazakhstan Rider Alexandre Vinokourov  of Team Telekom win at the Ghent-Welegam. The Prince SL was ridden to a great number of Pro Cycle race victory’s during the 2003 season and further enhanced the reputation of Pinarello’s Flagship Model.

PINARELLO PRINCE CARBON (3rd GENERATION)

By the start of the 2005 Professional Cycle season a shift in technology had led to a much higher number of full carbon frame Road Bikes in the Peloton and Pinarello had not been slow to adopt the latest materials with the Introduction of the Pinarello F4:13 their first full Carbon Framed Road Bike this was followed by the highly rated Pinarello Paris Carbon Frame and finally the Third Generation of the Prince. The Prince Carbon.

The Pinarello Prince Carbon is constructed using Japanese Carbon from Japanese Textile Giant Toray the Carbon system being know as Torayca® carbon 50HM1K. Torayca is a HM (High Modulus Carbon 50) with a 1K weave producing a very strong, stiff and ultra light frame set. The same Torayca® carbon 50HM1K is used in production Of the Pinarello Prince Carbon ONDA Forks and ONDA Seat Stays. Torayca® carbon is manufactured with the highest possible quality control and thoroughly tested for structural integrity.

The Pinarello Prince Carbon is a full Monocoque construction meaning it is molded in one piece with no lugs and thus eliminating any potential weakness that might be inherent in a carbon frame made from the more traditional Lugs method, with carbon sections glued together. The Pinarello Prince Carbon Frame has been designed for racing offering both exceptional stiffness for maximum power transfer and great handling but also an ultra lightweight construction.

Road Bicycles (race bicycles) have been specifically designed for high speed and racing, as such race bikes are constructed from lightweight materials and designed for stiffness in order to enable maximum energy transfer and easier climbing. Modern materials such as carbon composite frames and titanium and alu alloys have allowed cycle makers to push the limits of weight further than ever before whilst still retaining strength, frame stiffness and comfort.
